Our approach to your care will be Integrative, drawing from a variety of mind, body & spirit modalities that best match your needs and goals. My way of working is to discover root causes, foster mature insight, and seek practical solutions. Occasionally we'll delicately share humor to gain a seasoned perspective. Although I've provided both office-based and tele-health care, I've found that client-therapist attunement is best achieved during in-person meetings for the kind of deeper, insightful process we'll be following.
Simply defined, attunement is the ability to be fully present and responsive to another's thoughts and emotions with an awareness that goes beyond words. Attunement includes body language and other non-verbal cues to improve communication and foster understanding. The therapist can better discern the client's inner world, responding with accuracy and sensitivity, and the client can experience the therapist's full attention, strengthening rapport and trust.
I've also found that office-based care secures a space that provides a break from everyday routines and demands, and limits interruptions and privacy concerns. We will not use a computer during sessions, however I am a strong supporter of technology for learning, locating resources, and for personal growth. Reading between meetings using your preferred format is highly recommended. (TeleHealth is available for established clients if needed due to urgent care or travel within WV)
